Southern Peninsula Community Support and Information Centre

 Services

The Southern Peninsula Community Support and Information Centre aims to serve the needs of the local community through the provision of high quality support, information and referral services. SPCSIC is available to all members of the local Southern Mornington Peninsula community, with a particular emphasis on those who are marginalised.
All our services are free, confidential, impartial and independent. We endeavour at all times to give practical help whilst providing our community with a confidential and supportive environment.  We always respect the right of our community members to make their own decisions.

Advocacy and Negotiation
Our workers are trained to act as advocates on behalf of a client when requested to do so. Such advocacy may be with government departments, companies or other third parties where the client prefers to have another person speaking on their behalf.  We will listen, help, and negotiate on our clients behalf.

Colocators
A wide variety of services colocate at 878 Point Nepean Road.  The model of joint service provision between SPCSIC and colocating services is to provide the wider community with a more comprehensive and efficient service and a spirit of mutual support and professional co-operation prevails.  When on site the staff of colocating services form part of the team at SPCSIC.  Enabling colocating services to operate at a low cost from the building allows SPCSIC to provide services that benefit the local community and enables greater access for clients to various services.

Community Information
SPCSIC volunteers provide community information and referral to clients.  SPCSIC manages and maintains an extensive database of state-wide and local community information, of which SPCSIC has sole responsibility for over 400 local entries.  From its extensive database, which is compiled in cooperation with Western Port and Mornington Community Information Centres, a Community Information Directory is produced for the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
