Southern Peninsula Laundry and Shower program (SPLaSh)
This service is available to community members who are sleeping rough or experiencing other forms of homelessness, and those who may otherwise have need to utilise these essential services.
The program offers access to showers, washing machines and dryers with soap, shampoo, towels and laundry powder provided.
Food is also provided, a simple lunch and something to take away if you wish. There are toiletry packs and access to other material aid including tents, swags and bedding.
Other support services also attend SPLaSh, offering a chance to contact services that may not otherwise be easily accessible. For those attending, housing is a major issue so we have set up the Southern Peninsula Homeless Connections program to help reconnect you to housing services or if possible find alternative accommodation.
SPLaSh is a free service and offers practical support in a friendly, welcoming environment.
SPLaSh currently runs each Monday and Thursday from 11.30am to 2.30pm to the rear of the foreshore amenities block, opposite Boneo Road and the Skate Park on the Rosebud foreshore.
NOTE: From Monday 22nd May SPLaSh has relocated to the Section 11B shower block approx. 400 metres towards Rye for the winter.
SPLaSH is fully funded by donations, our major SPLaSh supporter is the Rye Op Shop (Southern Peninsula Community Fund), also our centre’s longest supporting donor (since 1984). This year the Rotary Club of Sorrento have given a wonderful $18,000 to help with the running of the program thanks to their fantastic Point Nepean Heritage Motor Show. There are many other individuals who also assist with cash, food and material goods, together you make it happen. The Mornington Peninsula Shire has supported the program from the start by providing access to our facility and supporting us many other ways.

Operating from the Rosebud foreshore and an amenities block has more than its fair share of challenges in February 2023 the Lions Clubs movement banded together to fund and then have built a shower van. The shower van gives us more options both for our current program and for the future as we explore options to take SPLaSh on the road.
You can read more about the generosity of Lions and Rotary Sorrento in our latest newsletter.
We believe SPLaSh is unique and so important, more so now than ever, we are so grateful to all of you who make it happen. We featured a story on SPLaSh in a recent newsletter click here to read it on page 6.
